Casa Mari, Former Meson Del Nispero

Sayalonga, <20€

09/02/2016: My friends booked us in here for my wife's birthday. All day people had asked where we were going that evening and when we said "Que Tal" the responses were all positive. So we arrived with expectation of a good evening. Don't expect a big restaurant with lots of people and atmosphere. Que Tal is a little place with perhaps only 12 covers set in a suburban neighbourhood of a small village a 15 minute drive form the coast. What it lacks in size it certainly makes up for in taste, presentation and service. The chef did not miss a step and the four of us ate exceptional food from starter to desert. Great presentation and melt in the mouse gorgeous food. The menu is a small one that relies on locally sourced fresh food and an eye to detail. The quality of the food does not mean inflated pricing with, what we thought was, good value for money. Again the wine list is fairly small but recently expanded (according to our friends) and so had a reasonable choice of some lovely wines. The service was friendly and informed without being overbearing. Little touches in presentation really make it feel like somewhere where thought has been put into every aspect of the evening. The bill coming hand written on a paper bag was a nice and humorous touch. Perhaps the glasses of wine encouraged my Eric Morecambe impression with the bag (one for the Brits of a certain age). In short, a must visit to a fairly new restaurant that is making an effort to be something different in an area with many restaurents. I'm back in the area again soon and it will be on my list to return and see how the restaurent is doing. I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed if you pay it a visit. "Que Tal" = "muy bueno".
